The AMS represents more than 60,000 students from diverse faculties, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Student government works best when it focuses on what unites students: strengthening campus life, supporting academic opportunities, and advocating for student wellbeing.

This referendum asks the AMS to take an institutional position on a complex international issue by severing formal academic ties with Israeli universities.

We believe that decision would:

  • Narrow institutional collaboration and academic opportunities
  • Shift student government away from its core focus on campus priorities
  • Risk creating division among a diverse student body

Academic partnerships with universities such as Hebrew University of JerusalemTel Aviv University, and Technion – Israel Institute of Technology support student exchanges, joint research, conferences, mentorship, and international academic networks.

Students are facing rising costs, academic pressure, and uncertainty about the future. Student government should prioritize these immediate needs, not take on deeply polarizing global conflicts.

This vote is about direction:

  • Do we narrow academic engagement or protect opportunities?
  • Do we shift focus outward or keep it here, where students need it most?

Our position is simple:

Students First. Keep the Focus Here.
